Framed

A photograph captures a fragment of time,
sealed by an honorable flash,
capturing but an imposter.

A photograph hides a thousand secrets,
hidden under that simple smile,
or seemingly, joyous moment.

A photograph paints a different story,
a quick subtle alteration,
a carefully crafted lie.

A photograph declares a version of truth,
winning over the masses,
the innocent and the fools.

A photograph nurtures a fantasy
quite impossible to dismiss.
Oh life of connotation!

I'm sitting at a table in the library, studying, when suddenly an idea hits me and subsequently my fingers hit the keyboard. Awhile back I came to a realization, a cliche, that what you see is not always what you get. Surfing through all the online networks and browsing through other people's lives, can sometimes leave me feeling envious of their greener pasture. But then I think, pictures are most often deceiving. Even looking through my own albums, I can specify certain frames where the smile portrays nothing but a forced emotion. That the happy usually means miserable and vice versa. The lesson? That's what you get when you creep. haha! Cheers :)

p.s.
Poems are so much fun to write! But my fave part is the title.

Ask.

                        up,down.
                     Left to Right.
                     Joy     tears.
                    Front   & back.
                           Over and
                           under.
                          Move
                        stay.
                      Pull
                      push.
                     Round
                     & round
                    Content?

                     Maybe.
                    That's
                    LIFE...

Poems that formed a picture were my favorite! Here's my attempt :)

Sometimes life is just one big question mark that never gets any answer. But sometimes the excitement is not so much in getting the answer as in the journey to find it. In life, you have to learn to carry on, no matter what. Ask questions, enjoy the quest.

diddly squat.

Why do people like to complain about everything wrong going on in their lives but couldn’t be bothered to get off their lazy behinds and do something about it? Does constantly complaining even serve any good? Yes, let’s keep pointing out all the negatives and maybe, somehow, they’ll cancel each other out. Right.

I miss this. I miss that. I miss living life. Yet, here I am sitting, waiting for God-knows-what and accomplishing zippo. Just do something already! To think about it, how hard is it to pick up a brush and just start? Take that split second decision: to do.  Apparently it’s impossible. It is much easier to take hours talking yourself out of doing anything.

So bored...
Bored with life.
Bored with the same old routine.
So I’ll just sit here in my designated corner and hum myself to insanity.

Oh look it’s sunny outside!
*pulls curtain shut*

This is a repost from a couple of months ago.
Whoever can't relate to this deadly sin, cast the first stone.
Ha!

The world would be a better place if we could just overcome this common adversary. If only there was a button we can press and voila...world peace. Or at least peace of mind. But reality plays a bit more hard to get. We actually have to battle with our minds and show sloth-of-a-twin who's boss. Live life guys. As cliche as it might sound...there's no worse company than regret. Well actually there might be, but that makes for a separate blog entry :)

Shuffled.

Every day there are hundreds of instances where we enter and become a part of a stranger's life. Walking down the street, waiting at the bus stop,  sitting in the bus, running to your next class, eating your lunch at the cafeteria...bathroom, library, coffee shop, classroom, gym...walking back home. In each of those moments, your life intersects with another and for a split second, you are at the same place, at the exact same time. And in that moment you become a guest character in their life story, sometimes playing a big role in an important scene or a seemingly insignificant passerby to fill in the set. But as quick as the encounter, you are off again into your own worlds, toward different destinations, consumed by different purposes, engaging with different people.

Maybe you'll meet that person again and you won't even know it. Maybe someday, down the road of fate, that once upon a time stranger will become the person that will change your life forever. Maybe you've already been that person to someone else.

Next time you're out and about, take an extra second to look around and take in your surroundings. What part, in who's story are you playing and who's taking part in yours?

It seems life is one endless shuffle, ever so random yet all the more clever.

I was inspired to write this short prose because I have a great obsession with the interconnection of lives. Whenever I'm on the bus or even just walking down the hall at school, I always think: cool I get to be a part of these people's lives and they don't even know it! All the faces we see in our dreams, that we have no idea where they came from, are people we've bumped into somewhere, some time. Our brain collects all these images even without consciously recording them into our memories. Any way, a little inspiration for everyone...you might feel insignificant in your life but you have no idea how many lives you've touched without even trying. It really is a cool thought, huh?
